Canada 150 Senior’s Luncheon

Canada 150 Senior’s Luncheon

As part of Canada’s 150 birthday celebrations, on June 6, 2017, the Western District Historical Society hosted a luncheon for nearly 200 area seniors at the Great War Memorial Hall. A special certificate recognizing Mr. George Freeman as a life member of the Society and honouring Mr. Freeman’s contributions to the historical record (the Strathmore and Western Irrigation District history books), and indeed to all aspects of our community was presented by Tom Sadler to George’s son Larry Freeman on George’s behalf. Thank-you to Rhonda Stockwell for presenting us with an introduction to the forth-coming On This Spot walking tours. A thank-you also to those who donated displays for the occasion and to the Town of Strathmore (Community Investment Fund) and the Strathmore Elks for their support in this venture.
